What stands in the way, becomes the way
Marcus Aurelius
While it definitely pales in comparison to some, my health journey has been a wild ride.
I’ve experienced Lyme Disease with its fatigue, pain, brain fog and memory loss.
The hearing problems, stabbing pain, ringing, clicking and isolation of Tinnitus.
The headaches, exhaustion, eye issues, restriction of activity and sensitivity of Post-Concussive Disorder.
The pain, inconvenience and discomfort of Interstitial Cystitis.
Mental anguish has included hypochondria, hopelessness, feeling ridiculed, feeling crazy, fear, panic, grief, ANXIETY, depression, trauma, stress, problem solving, story telling, debt, catastrophizing, numbing and feeling like a victim.
I’ve been written off by doctors, helped by doctors, used apps, used alternative medicine, used pharmaceuticals, taken supplements, had scans, been fired from jobs, been told I’m sick, been told I’m not sick, changed my habits, refused to change my habits, been self destructive and stood up for myself.
With each challenge, I eventually stumbled upon something that changed my trajectory. However without doing the emotional, mental and sometimes spiritual work, it wasn’t going to stick.
I am not perfect, but I now know my issues like the back of my hand, and continue working on them in order to stay healthy and find balance in my life.
Like many people with health problems, I have anxiety, am a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), Empath and recovering People Pleaser.
A lifelong horsegirl originally from Maine, USA, I quit professional training and competing in 2010 and obtained my clinical social work license from Virginia Commonwealth in 2015. I initially worked in Community Mental Health before transitioning to a Suburban Philadelphia Healthcare Center where I provided consultation on health issues and behaviors within Primary Care, Ob/Gyn and Medication-Assisted Recovery.
In 2019 I opened a remote psychotherapy practice and moved to Mexico with my dog Howie, fulfilling a lifelong dream of living abroad. My experience and learning in the holistic and self healing area has exploded over the last several years and I hope to continue to learn, share and contribute to this life changing field for years to come.
